How It Works

Step 1

The Xact Monitor takes a reading by either reading the gauge or using our patented ultrasonic technology.

The ultrasonic system (pictured) is externally mounted on the bottom of a propane tank without any gauges or tank modifcations required. It sends a sound wave through the wall of the tank and reads the return echo from the surface of the fuel.

The device then captures the echo and records the distance from the inside bottom of the tank to the surface of the liquid.

Step 2

The device sends the tank’s current fill level, GPS location, and other tank data to the Globalstar® satellite network.

This information is relayed through the satellite and into the Xact online portal that you can access on your computer, phone, or tablet.

Step 3

You can then log into the Xact online portal and see all of your tank readings.

You can also set e-mail alerts on a consistent schedule, in addition to e-mails when tanks reach critical fill levels. These emails can be customized so that you can receive them as frequently as needed.

What is the difference between a gauge reader and ultrasonic monitor?
A gauge reader plugs into a Rochester Jr./Sr. Remote Ready dial face and reports the fill level to our satellite network. An ultrasonic monitor sends a sound wave through the wall of the tank and reads the return echo from the surface of the liquid propane. These readings are accurate within ± 2%, with no reliance on any existing mechanical gauges.
Why satellite monitoring over cell or wifi?
Satellite provides complete coverage for any tank in the world. This lets you get readings you can depend on for tanks in remote areas with spotty cell service.
Why should I care about ultrasonic measurements?
Ultrasonic systems measure fill levels at an accuracy within +/- 2%. This accuracy is extremely important for maximizing the efficiency of distribution fleets, and can help you save money and hours of time by reducing trips taken to refill tanks.
Will these monitors hold up in the harsh weather?
Absolutely. Our monitors work in operating temperatures from -40°F to 140°F (60°C  to -40°C)
Will these systems alert me when I am running low?
Yes. Customize your fill level alarms to receive automatic email updates in addition to your scheduled readings.
